From May 23rd to 24th, 2025, the tranquil fairways of Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club in Namulonge played host to the Namulonge Ladies Open, a standout event on Uganda’s women’s golf calendar.
The two-day tournament brought together female golfers from across Uganda Golf Union–affiliated clubs, with competition across Silver, Bronze, Seniors, and Subsidiary categories. Played in a full medal format, the event required every stroke to count — adding intensity to each round across the club’s challenging 9-hole layout.
Tee times began as early as 6:30 AM, and a courtesy practice round was held on May 21st. Players competed under the R&A Rules of Golf and Mary Louise Simkins Memorial’s local course rules. Randomized draws, strict pace-of-play enforcement, and clear eligibility criteria ensured a competitive and fair tournament environment.
This year’s Open was proudly sponsored by Equity Bank, MTN MoMo, Pepsi, and Exclusive African Safaris, whose support played a key role in elevating the experience for participants and guests alike.
The tournament concluded with a vibrant prize-giving ceremony on May 24th, recognizing top players in each category, along with special awards for Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin. The clubhouse buzzed with camaraderie and celebration, a fitting close to a memorable competition.
The Namulonge Ladies Open continues to grow as a respected platform for women’s golf in Uganda — fostering skill, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of community in the sport.
